Okay so ALL of my July posts have been delayed. I’m so sorry to all of my readers but to be honest I was just enjoying July. No excuses, no real reason, well actually there were two pint size reasons. Those reasons just so happen […]
It is what it is, and what IT is, just so happens to be Monday!! With Monday comes a few links I’m loving only this week I’m putting a twist on it. Trending, every season it’s all you here about, spring trends, summer trends, fall, winter and repeat. Every season there is something new that designers and retailers want you to buy. Of course who doesn’t want to stay on trend but at the same time it can be expensive. Also they make it quite tempting with ads and people like myself who merchandise pieces in such a way that it makes items seem to call to you. Well, at least that’s what we hope for!
As a blogger and visual merchandiser I know this temptation all too well and I’m not immune to it! There’s nothing wrong with that, as long as you know what to look for. Either sticking with a budget or making sure those trendy pieces can be worn for more than just that season. Things like overalls and exposed hems can be turned into a classic every day pieces, you just have to know where and what to look for. This weeks “links I love” is dedicated to finding those quality trendy spring pieces. May they be for less or made to last I’m sharing the links to the best of 2017’s spring trends!
Statement sleeves are a MUST this spring I even see some strong styles they will be an easy and awesome go to from fall, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. I’m praying for warmer weather and although I love a good layering piece I’m not quite ready to roll out the pumpkins and fringe just yet. Below you will find some of my favorite statement sleeves for SPRING!
I have always been a MAJOR fan of embroidery I think it’s such a delicate and sweet finishing touch to what can be a seamlessly simple and perfect outfit. I love pieces that can transition from daytime to evening and if done right pieces with embroidering on them can work its way into any occasion.
Side Note: Embroidery can be pricey. For this one we are looking at a budget of $200 or less. An embroidered dress can easily be turned into a classic worn over time. Personally, if I find a piece that is what I consider a classic that still fits the current trend I splurge on it.
I’m thinking it’s time we all started investing a little more time and energy into OURSELVES. Of course I’ve been outspoken about skin care, especially as we embark into the spring leaving winter in the dust! I can’t stress enough how important it is to invest in […]
The other day temperatures reached an all time high, well at least for me they did. I’m in the third trimester of my second pregnancy and oh boy are these pregnancy symptoms coming out of the woodwork. All day yesterday I was fanning myself and staying hydrated, I was definitely having a hot flash or too. I’ve always said that my second trimester was the BEST time every during my first pregnancy and it’s safe to say that the second time around was no different. Theres just something about it, you’re not too big yet you don’t really have symptoms as much as you did while adjusting in the beginning or near the end when your body is doing the prep work for delivery. It’s just a nice slice of time where everything stands still and you get to just enjoy the baby bump and food cravings. Sadly I’m not longer living that beautiful dream anymore. Don’t get me wrong the third trimester isn’t bad its just different. Things are getting real and the time seems to fly by more rapidly than in the beginning. Things I felt I had months to do are dwindling down to weeks and soon it will be days. Ahhh!!!
In the mean time I’ve stopped all maternity purchases I’m good I’ve only got ten weeks left so I’m going to “make do” with what I have and keep it simple. Today’s is another non-bump purchases, I wore a draped BCBG Maxazria skirt. I love the color of this skirt it reminds me of a blue lagoon or deep periwinkle tone which is great for accentuating a tan. I kept it simple on top and just paired it with a white tank. I threw on a BCBG Generation blouse over it to complete the look with add a little extra pop. The blouse used to zip up but well that’s not happening any time soon so I’m keeping it in rotation as a cover up. I kept my make up light and my hair half up half down for a simple sleek look. Near the end of pregnancy I try to keep everything simple, throw on and go is my motto. You may not always get as stylish of a look as you’re after but remember you are going through the miracle of pregnancy. It doesn’t always feel like a miracle but anything amazing isn’t going to come that easy. So just be confident and remember you are BEAUTIFUL!
Summer is coming to an end so Sam and I are trying to take advantage of what is left of it. Tonight Sam suggested we grill. He would figure out the main course while I took care of the sides. He then gave me an idea to make a tater tot casserole as a side. At first I just stared at him not knowing how to handle that comment. Then I just walked away. But I thought about it, soon it would be fall and with fall comes some of my favorite savory treats. As a person who sticks with literally all the starches for Thanksgiving I figured it might be a good idea to test out a few alternatives. I decided to start with the tater tots and I turn them into Broccoli Tots!
- 1 head of broccoli chopped (you can use frozen or uncooked)
- 1 1/2 cup of Cheddar Cheese
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 cup italian bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup yellow onions
Preheat oven to 375, mix all the ingredients into a bowl. Form little tots and place on greased baking sheet 1 inch apart. Bake for 10 minutes, take tots out of oven flip then and bake them an extra 7 minutes.
WARNING: They are delicious. I ended up not sharing them with anymore….You don’t have to either.
