Yay we’ve made it! It’s the first day of spring. The weather reports all said snow and yet we have no snow and lots of sunshine! This morning while walking to the gym I felt a bitter chill in the air which definitely had me worried. But as I was leaving I could feel it warming up just a bit! I can’t wait for the day to start and Gunnar to wake up from his slumber. For the first day of spring I thought it would be nice to set up a few activities for my little toddler.
So with today being the first official day of spring I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate with our little one then by talking about plants! We are going to learn different plants and possible planting a few of our own. With a little brother coming soon I thought this would be a good way to help Gunnar understand the concept of taking care of something or someone!
Sam and I are big on the idea that you really do learn something new every day. We love to learn and want to pass on that love to our children. So for this lovely Sunday we are learning about carrots and wild flowers. I’m going to bring in a few arts and crafts options into the mix and hopefully if it’s warm enough Gunnie and I can plant a few things in the garden! I’m trying something new this year. I love peonies so I thought it would be nice to see if I can grow some of my own for a change. While I’ll be planting those we got Gunnie some little seeds to sprinkle wherever his little heart desires.
I’m hoping that over the summer we will grow a nice little garden filled with wildflowers, lavender and a few other options. Once we have everything planted I thought it would be fun for the family to paint rock signs to place near each plant. This will be a fun way to help us know where and what we’ve planted and of course make it easier for the family to tend to the garden. I found this lovely inspiration to the side from Real Simple’s Pinterest board on DIY’s and crafts.
Whatever you may be planning for this lovely Sunday I hope you have an amazing day!
