A Time to Be Thankful
Lately I’ve felt like my world is in fast forward. Rushing around getting the house ready for the holidays and the store ready for Black Friday. So, I haven’t been the most pleasant individual, until now. After days of prep work we are finally going to decorate our tree as a family. My soon to be mother-in-law took Gunnar over night from Sunday to Monday, which gave me the chance to get the house ready and organized for the holiday fun! I revamped Gunnar’s room which I am sure he is happy about. Now he can have his train set alllll over the floor and no one can yell at him for it.
The holidays are a really big deal for me. My dad and I would decorate the house every year. By the time we finished it looked like a winter wonderland! In total I believe we have collected 68 Santa dolls over the years. For us the holidays are a big deal. This year would be our first year really getting into, now that Gunnar is older is would be easier to actually decorate. I wouldn’t have to worry about him eating an ornament or three and this year I used sparkly gold string to hang our ornaments.
While decorating the tree I found myself getting a little teary eyed at the family memories we were creating. It was easy to see that this year Gunnar was kind of grasping the concept of the holidays. We learned the word “Chwismas twee” and not only did ornaments go on the tree but also a few toys he decided brought the look together.
I am so thankful for all the holiday memories my family created for me over the years and I can’t wait to create new ones for my son and our little family we are building. Sam and I work so hard it really feels great to be able to come together and enjoy family time. I can’t wait for tomorrow when we get to visit with our family and friends. We are so lucky to have them so close to where we live, we will really get to visit with them and have fun as a family. There’s a lot to be thankful for all year round but there is something special about the holidays no matter how busy we are so how stressed we get they always seem to remind us of our loved ones and how lucky we are.
Tonight we started with our tree but as the month goes by I’m going make time to create a few special projects as a family.
- Little Bird feeders made with peanut butter and bird seed
- Construction Paper Christmas Tree for his room
- Painting a snowflake canvas
