It’s been two-week since our little one arrived and what a whirlwind its been. Sam and I can’t stop staring at him, we are just in awe of him. Staring at him while he sleeps and swooning over every silly little face he makes has […]
Month: August 2016
Today’s look is a throw back but it is one of my favorite day time looks. This morning Time Hop alerted me that a year ago today I was living it up in Charleston, enjoying a nice baby free bachelorette weekend with my bridesmaids. A very different situation from today, as I am currently knee-deep in spit up, dirty diapers and Play-Doh. (Thanks to Bodhi and Gunnie) I remember this weekend like it was yesterday. I’d planned every single look I wore that weekend, weeks in advance. I was well prepared, this was my weekend, I knew not to take it for granted.
My MOH and I started off that morning at the airport with some champs and a tiny splash of OJ for good measure. (Of course?) We boarded our plane and were off on what would be a fantastic adventure! From the moment we landed things were moving fast, we quickly dropped off our bags and were on our first distention, The Blind Tiger a hot spot Charleston. Honestly I could have spent the entire weekend there. The drinks were fun and inventive and the service is fantastic. Their outdoor area is set around old ruins of brick and barrels to add a whimsical and fun vibe to your night. It was an amazing time and if you’re ever in the Charleston area I’d call it a MUST. From the jump I knew rompers would be the fashion theme for that weekend and it truly was a success!
As you all know I love rompers. An easy piece you can throw on with easy and be out the door in seconds. You can add a couple of accessories and turn your day time look into a perfectly fun and flirty look for a dinner out. This easy piece has become a favorite of mine especially after becoming a mom. Like any mama knows, those easy to go pieces are staples we aim for.
For me the romper is that staple. I love to take my fancier options and dress them down for an edgier look. You can also take a more classic casual approach to the look which is great for day events such as, brunch, trips to the zoo with the little ones or of course a weekend getaway with your friend! ? The look below is not only a silly one from my trip but it also show cases a simple and sweet take on the romper. I love me some good floral print so I couldn’t resist this one. The bigger print really adds a little touch of sweetness to an otherwise simple look. This one was a straight off the plane outfit so I kept it casual with a few bracelets and a simple sandal for the days festivities. It was a hotter day so I threw my hair up into a sleek top knot and went minimal on the make up.
Okay so the past couple of months you’ve followed alone as I meal prep for postpartum and recovery. Well, tonight’s meal isn’t really for me, it’s for the boys! In the beginning I’m not going to be the only busy one. Thankfully Sam gets paternity […]
Happy Tuesday! Although the weather in our area isn’t what I’d call the greatest for a pregnant woman, this mama is feeling good and moving along nicely! This week I started out struggling, hence no look of the day yesterday. It was a combination of a few things, I spent the majority of the day cleaning and doing more laundry plus I just wasn’t feeling it. I needed that comfortable sweat pant day. We’ve all been there when they call to you and on a day off like yesterday I wasn’t about to resist. But today I’m back at it.
So, like I said the weather this week has been HOT which means we have the air conditioner cranked up high at work. Which means I’ve had to bring in some transitional pieces to keep me cool outside and while staying warm indoors as well. That made it possible for me to rock another fall piece.(yay) You’ll see I’m wearing a black shift dress, thank you Gap Body (non-maternity and technically sleep wear?) with a light sweater wrap from Free People. I choose this one specifically for that little extra pop of color and of course it’s also more opened and airy around my arms so that definitely was a plus. When it comes to shoes well, I’m wearing one of the few pairs that still fits. A pair of animal print sandals from Jcrew. I went with these again for comfort but also to add a little more detail to the look. The most important thing about my look is that it is super comfortable because at this point that’s all that matters. For hair I slicked half of it back and straightened the rest. I like to mix up my look when i go more casual and comfortable. So I went a little heavier on the make up and hair.
Staying comfortable is key for us mamas to be near the end. I’ve tried to push myself into different outfits and ended up regretting it. Last week I tried to squeeze myself into a different pair of heels and after about 5 minutes my feet went from the size of yams to watermelons. Don’t believe me? I have the photos to prove it but I’ll spare you!
Today is National Bump Day and the bump and I are feeling good. Baby is the size of a pumpkin and mama’s feet are the size of YAMS! While I wish I was kidding, sadly I’m not, but that’s okay. This pregnancy has felt like a world wind and I can’t lie I feel really blessed about my experience as a whole. Which I know sounds crazy, I’ve always been the type of woman who though women were crazy when they called their pregnancies a blessing or a beautiful miracle. But this time around I’ve been lucky enough to be able to enjoy most of it. Sure I’ve had mood swings and crying fits all while dealing with the terrible twos but I mean that’s life. I’ve had some good times and some less than great moments but all in all this as been an amazing experience. I mean how can an experience not be when it brings me my sweet little one. So bring on the swollen feet and swore back I’ll take it!
Now that I’m getting so, so close to the end of it all I’ve found if a little difficult to get dressed in the morning. Mainly it’s my lack of options, throw in the fact that I have a two-year old dancing around me for attention and you can see what I’m talking about. But I still have my energy which has made me more determined than ever to figure this one out. I have 9 days left and I’m going to make the most of every moment. I’m challenging myself to have a new look every day! So, lets see how I do!
Thankfully for the bump and I we’ve made it through the heat wave last week brought us and we are seeing better days. Last week was definitely a doozy when it came to bump fashion. I had little to NO inspiration or options for outfits. At the moment it feels like I’m grasping at straws its hard to keep things fresh when you’re working with limited choices when it comes to clothing that fits the bump. What I like to do when this happens is mix it up and look through my fall and spring classics for help. Today I went with all the neutrals, I paired black, white and even a little brown together. I added a denim flannel to my look that normally I would consider more of a fall option. I rolled up the sleeves, kept it unbuttoned and in my opinion took something totally out of season and made it work. Originally I had my hair down with a little curl but again it proved to be just a little to hot so I threw it back in a small bun at the base of my neck and went about my day!!! Cant wait to share tomorrows look with you!!
