So this week is a pretty busy one for the store. With Mother’s Day right around the corner everyone is popping into the shop to pick up those last-minute gifts for their dear mamas. While that’s all well and good the only problem I’m […]
Month: May 2016
As we gear up for the warmer weather coming up I thought it would be nice to switch up my look. I wanted something a little warmer and lighter. Don’t worry I limited my hair fun to highlights and NO dying. While I’m very happy with my color results, the one negative of my recent change is that my normally softer, fine hair was damaged in the process. I’m no newby to dyes and highlights so I knew dryer locks were a possibility going into this.
Normally I’m not a fan of too much product. My hair can’t handle a lot of it and ends up looking greesy and limp. Now that I’m dealing with dryer hair I think its safe to say I won’t have that same problem. Aveda is one of my favorite brands and I’ve yet to be disappointed by any of their products.
I picked up their damage remedy cream and dry remedy oil. I use the damage remedy cream daily especially when using hot tools. I apply it on right after I get out of the shower and comb it through. On days that I opt out of washing my hair I just add a tiny dime size drop to my ends to give it that extra nourishment it needs. The dry remedy oil is something I choose to use three times a week. Before bed I add a couple of drops to my scalp and massage it in. Both products have an amazing smell and I’m happy to add them in to my weekly beauty routine.
Since puberty I’ve been on a quest for just the right shade of lipstick. A daily dose of bold lip just isn’t my thing. While I like to rock it sometimes, generally I like to stick with a more neutral earthy color for my daily routine. I’ve very picky about what I put on my lips it has to go on smooth and not dry out my lips. While I’ll try anything once the likelihood of my going back to a product if it isn’t kind to my lips is slim.
Walking through the drugstore the other day I found out Burt’s Bees had really stepped up its make up game. After I did a little happy dance I grab a few shades of lip stick and a fantastic new BB cream I’ll talk about next ;). I went for one neutral ( Nile Nude), a light fluffy pink (Iced Iris) fit for spring and of course my favorite bold but funky go to pop a nice orange (Sunset Cruise). For some reason I find red doesn’t suit my skin tone but orange does just the trick!
So, I’ve had a love hate relationship with BB cream. First of all I was raised going to Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom’s, and Bloomies on Sundays with my mom. I would follow her around as she made her way to all the different make up and skincare counters with her list of must have products. Which has made me wary of every trying anything out of my department store realm. But let’s be honest thats silly and as a 20 something with 1.5 children, it’s not practical! So I’ve been trying to open myself up to new and different products, even ones from the drug store! I have really sensitive skin so its always been hard to find something that will work for more than a couple of days. Thankfully I found this little beauty and it seems to be working well. I’m really excited about the fact that is has a built in SPF 15. I don’t know about you but I know that come summer time I certainly don’t wants to be wearing a full face on Lancomè concealer. So to find something light weight with a sun protecter built in is great.
